Shadowgun Brings Shooter Games to IPhone, IPad

"Shadowgun," third-party shooting game for Apple devices, gives users a engaging way to pass the time on the go.

Developed by Madfinger, Shadowgun brings elements from popular third-party shooter console games, such as Xbox's "Gears of War," to Apple's iPhone and iPad. Users play a mercenary hunting down a mad scientist inside a huge research facility, facing weapons-wielding mutant lobsters, insane laboratory test subjects and other barriers along the journey.

The game, which costs $8 on iTunes, focuses heavily on duck-and-cover tactics, made possible by the detailed graphics that give it a console feel.

Shadowgun is not the first third-person shooting game that users can play on the iPad or iPhone, but it is original in that it was built specifically for mobile devices. Some users have described "Shadowgun" as more enjoyable to play on the iPad than the iPhone because of the difference in screen sizes, but it functions equally on both.

Whichever device users choose, Shadowgun's groundbreaking graphics demonstrate that mobile gaming is coming closer to the console experience, and at a more affordable price.
